Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this course is right for me?
Being far from home makes everything FEEL different and maybe just a little bit more scary. Everything about this program is directed towards making you feel safe and confident to make choices and decisions. Rather than spending hours looking for information, I am offering you the right information in the right format at the right time.
If you decide that this course is not for you, you may send me a written notification within 30 days and a refund will be negotiated mutually based on the circumstances.
Why should I pay for information that I can find free online?
Because free information is not organised or structured. It’s free, so it is random and most often it is fear based. So I have taken the best of the best and coupled it with 25 years of hands on experience so that I can share it with you in bite size chunks at the right time. Your birth experience is a memory of a lifetime and I want to make sure it is a positive one.
What sets this program apart from other programs?
I have included information that is not typically part of a birth preparation program. Things like preparing your mind and finding your coping style. Even when it comes to learning about the stages of labor – I give you realistic tips that you can apply in real life, not just text book jargon. Our mind is constantly in motion and as such, it hold great potential to change and influence the way we live. I will help you to harness the power of your mind as an effective tool to use in labor.
Why do I need a childbirth class?
As a modern, educated woman you are part of a generation that is used to being in control of your life and at work. You may find it difficult to let go and accept that birth is a process that cannot be ‘managed’ like a work project. With the increase in medicalization of childbirth and risk averse environment, you might want to learn the tools to avoid interventions, medication, and a cesarean. It is crucial that you know your options and how you can influence your care.
How does the Virtual Midwife Chat Room work?
We use Zoom for our calls so you can join in live or listen later if you miss the live session. All the recorded sessions are added into the Members Only private Facebook group.
Its a bit like inviting me and a group of pregnant friends into your living room to get answers to your questions. Sometimes I will host a chat about a relevant topic, often in response to a question from a member.
By joining regularly you will get to know the other women in the group and often you will get answers to your questions before you even ask them. You will receive email invitations and reminders to join and the dates of the calls are on the calendar.
What if I would like a private session or need a bit extra?
Perhaps there is something that you don’t want to share in the group or that you feel is personal to you. Book a call here. If its just a quickie then feel free to book a complimentary call but otherwise book a consultation.
I am not an expat but this course sounds like what I have been looking for. Will it still help me?
Absolutely yes! Nothing is inherently different about being pregnant or giving birth abroad. You will still experience the same things physically, but abroad you feel a little more lonely and a little less supported. The course content is applicable to everyone, with an emphasis on how to navigate difficult choices and decisions and extra information to help you put things in context.
