Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I pay for information that I can find free online?

Yes, there is tons of free information available, but for every statement of truth there is a BUT or a WHAT IF which leaves you feeling as confused and confounded and anxious as when you started. The Virtual Midwife has done the research and the homework for you. The program is professionally designed to inform you in a way that will make you ask your own buts, your own what ifs. By the end of this program you will have enough confidence and trust in your own knowledge and ability to ask the right questions in order to get the answers that you need.

You will receive links and resources that arm you with information with a purpose.  The value of this program is that I have taken the best of the best and put it into a user friendly format designed to guide you step by step to a place of trust and understanding.

I value my program and I want you to share that value by putting everything in to it, applying it, learning and allowing it to make the difference that I KNOW it WILL make. Your birth experience is a memory of a lifetime. Let me help you to make it a positive one.

How do I know if this is right for me?

I work with women from all around the world and one thing is certain, you all have the same fears around giving birth. Everything about this program is directed towards leading you towards feeling safe and confident to make choices and decisions.  Preparing for motherhood cannot be done in a day or a week or even a month. It is a process that takes love and dedication. I love what I do and I am dedicated to helping you. If you’re drawn to working with me, it’s probably for good reason. Your intuition is stronger than you think and it is a strong component of the programs that I offer. You will get out what you put in.

What sets this program apart from other programs?

The Virtual Midwife incorporates a professional multimedia program combined with 3 months of support and supplemental material that is designed to help you to understand the KEY CONCEPTS and PRINCIPLES of a safe and gentle birth as well as the scientific stuff. The program includes membership to the Virtual Antenatal Clinic, weekly online hangouts, group coaching and topic of the month PLUS access to the Virtual Midwife for additional coaching. No matter where you are in the world, this program will prepare you for a positive and empowering birth experience.

Why do I need a childbirth class?

If you did not have access to so much information on the internet, you probably would not need a class. Unfortunately there is SO MUCH available at the moment that it is easy to be overwhelmed. It has become increasingly difficult to know where to start, what is important and what you absolutely need to know. With the increase in medicalization of childbirth and risk averse environment, you might also want to learn the tools to avoid interventions, medication, and a cesarean.

The Virtual Midwife program is formulated in a way that makes it easy for you to understand. I will literally take your hand and guide you step by step on your path to parenthood.  It is crucial that you know your options, if you don’t, then essentially you don’t have any.

Will I be tied in?

Once you decide which program is best for you and joined up, you are part of the Virtual community and all the associated benefits. Most women join the program in their first trimester and stay until after their baby is born, but you decide how long you would like to stay and derive benefit.

What is a Discovery call?

This is the time to get to know you a bit better. Where do you live? What access do you have to prenatal care? What are your expectations? Where will you be giving birth? Do you know what questions to ask your care provider? What are your greatest fears? This session enables me to steer you towards the right resources and information and which package would be the best fit for you and your partner.

How does the Weekly group online hangout & coaching work?

The group coaching sessions are delivered using Zoom and they are drop-in calls for members only. I call this the Virtual Antenatal Clinic. Imagine inviting the Virtual Midwife and a group of pregnant friends into your living room to get answers to your questions about pregnancy and learn interesting facts.  Every week for 12 weeks we cover a specific topic (see below). You can join in live with as many or as few as you like. Sessions are recorded so you can listen again but I encourage all members to aim to join in live so that you can get answers to all YOUR questions. By joining regularly you will get to know the other women in the group and often you will get answers to your questions before you even ask them. All members will receive email invitations and reminders. All time zones are catered for.

(link to or show the speak pipe option here)Using Zoom technology there will be a brief 15 minute presentation to explain key concepts of the topic, followed by 30 minutes Q&A and discussion among members. This is another aspect of the Virtual Antenatal Clinic and it is YOUR space.

How do private coaching calls work?

The Personal Mentor program includes 3 private calls with the Virtual Midwife. You can choose when you will take these calls. I recommend that you book a call one week after joining, the next call 2 weeks before your expected due date and the last within a week of giving birth. This gives you ample opportunity to get answers to all your questions and for the me to share my knowledge and expertise personalized to suit you and your situation. The calls are focused on shifting any fears or limiting beliefs you might have about your ability to give birth or become a parent. The program is focused on change and results and there is consistent structure and accountability. If you are still unsure, why not book a call here

What happens in a webinar?

A webinar is an interactive class conducted via the web. It happens in real time so you can see the presenter’s screen on your PC, notebook or tablet from the comfort of your home or wherever you choose. You may participate, if you wish, by asking questions via the online portal. If you cannot attend the live session, a recording of the webinar will be sent to all registered participants.

What do you mean by a closed community group?

Most people use Facebook as a way of staying in touch with friends and family back home and sharing insights into life abroad. The Virtual Midwife has a private space for members only to receive & provide support to each other. It is an opportunity to share your experiences and feel connected to others in similar situations and in doing so find a sense of belonging. But the most significant benefit are the regular posts by the Virtual Midwife team with purposeful themes designed to engage and inform. This is a place for you to get round the clock support and advice.

What is a Personalized Graphic Birth Plan?

If you are still feeling unsure of your choices after completing the program, you might consider a one on one coaching session with the Virtual Midwife. This is an opportunity to discuss the choices and options available to you wherever you are and fine tune what is important to you. This information will be put into a simple personalized birth plan with easy to understand graphics and icons. The accompanying text document can be translated into any foreign language but the impact lies in the pictures because everyone understands pictures. Print and laminate and take it with you to the hospital to ensure that your needs and desires are met. See example here.

What is The Virtual Midwife Survival Kit?
